Explore Frozen Cornucopia Sea Caves

Superior Adventures will be venturing past south shore's Cornucopia, WI to explore the magical ice caves of the Apostle Islands.  This is our first of two trips to visit the sea caves this winter.  The second, and last, trip to the sea caves is February 3rd.

Centuries of wave action, freezing, and thawing have sculpted the shorelines right along Meyers Beach.  Join Superior Adventures in visiting these amazing sea caves and witness Lake Superior's ever-changing handiwork.  We'll start the day by either hiking or snowshoe from Meyers Beach right on top of the frozen Lake Superior.  Inside each cave awaits a fairyland of needlelike icicles. The formations change from chamber to chamber and from day to day.  This is a bucket-list event for all students and staff!

UWS Community: $30
General Public:     $40
We'll be providing transportation, hot drinks, snacks and snowshoes.

Seats are limited so make sure you grab a friend and stop by the MWC welcome desk to reserve your spot before it's too late!

Disclaimer: Apostle Islands National Lakeshore staff checks the ice and monitors the weather to determine when the Mainland Caves are accessible. NPS is not, however, able to check every day. Cold temperatures can form thick ice, but wind and waves can break up that ice and make it very unstable.  Trips may be cancelled or moved depending on ice conditions.
