Outdoor Adventure

Delicate Arch SB 13General Information

Superior Adventures of the University of Wisconsin - Superior offers a broad range of outdoor activities throughout the academic year including the summer too. The intent of Superior Adventures is to provide outdoor and social experiences emphasizing adventure, environmental awareness, education, challenge, personal development, safety, a sense of community and fun.  Our trips and clinics are open to all and are designed to introduce students, faculty/staff and community members to the outdoor recreational opportunities of the Lake Superior region and beyond.  Occasionally, throughout the year, Superior Adventures offers clinics on a wide range of outdoor related topics.  Be sure to check our schedule to get plugged into these fun and educational outdoor adventures!

Most, but not all trips are instructional and are geared toward persons with little or no experience. Trips run within a "cooperative adventure philosophy" as opposed to a guide service. Under this philosophy participants are expected to assume responsibilities on trips which will include setting up tents, meal preparation, etc. These duties depend in part on the participant's experience and ability. Pre-trip meetings are mandatory for over-night trips because of the essential information that you acquire. If you miss a pre-trip meeting without making arrangements with the trip leader, we reserve the right to remove you from the trip and you forfeit your trip fee or deposit.

All of our trips and clinics are run on a non-profit basis. Many administrative costs are covered by University Recreation through student fees. This is why costs for community participants are slightly higher than students. We supply the trip leaders, equipment, camping & park fees and transportation. Participants need only supply personal equipment (hiking boots, rain jacket, etc). Your trip fee may also pay for the trip leaders and trip planning.

Feel free to contact Superior Adventures with all your outdoor needs.  Let us know how we can serve you through our trips, clinics and our outdoor equipment rental program.  You can reach Superior Adventures at Adventures@uwsuper.edu or  (715) 395-4647.  We are located in the Marcovich Wellness Center in room 1438 near the indoor climbing wall.  You can also stop by the MWC front desk for more information during Superior Adventures non-business hours.
