Commencement Ceremony

graduationCommencement Ceremony - UW-Superior conducts commencements each year in December and May. Students completing their studies in August participate in the May 
commencement ceremony. Caps and gowns must be worn by all graduates at commencement and may be purchased through the University Bookstore. To participate in the commencement ceremony, a student must have completed or be currently enrolled in courses which complete all graduation requirements and have their name listed on the Degree Applicants list.

Honors eligibility is calculated using both Resident grade points AND transfer grade points.  A student must earn the minimum GPA at each of the levels of distinction:  Degree, major, second major or minor.  Commencement honor cords will 
be given to students who participate in Commencement based on the student's 
cumulative GPA (includes transfer plus UW_Superior credits) at the point s/he 
participates in Commencement.  Honors posted on official transcripts will be based 
on the student's final cumulative GPA (includes transfer plus UW - Superior credits) at the point s/he participates in Commencement.  Honors posted on official transcripts will be based on the student's final cumulative GPA (includes transfer plus UW-Superior credits) after all courses have been graded for those bachelor's degree students who have earned a minimum of 30 semester credits in residence, with at least 27 of these credits graded with letter grades, and who have earned the GPA listed below:

Summa Cum Laude   3.85 GPA and above

Magna Cum Laude    3.60 to 3.849

Cum Laude               3.40 to 3.599


Diplomas will not be mailed to students who owe money to the university.
