After March 26th, you may drop classes by filing a "Petition to the Credits Commitee." This option ends the last day of classes. You can no longer drop during the week of final exams.

  • Fill out, then print out the form, "Petition to the Credits CommitteeThis document requires Acrobat Reader to open.," (undergraduates only) or stop by the Registrar's Office and pick one up. Also pick up a Drop/Add form and fill out. Additionally, your advisor can sign your Drop/Add form (undergraduates only).
  • Obtain your advisor (undergraduates only) Instructor, and Department Chair/Program Coordinator's signatures.
  • Graduates: reference the Graduate Office for more information about dropping a class after the Last Day to Drop.

If all have checked "Recommend Approval," and have signed:

  • Take the petition to the Registrar, Barb Erickson, Old Main, Room 139. She will sign off and you can continue the process.
  • Take the drop slip to the Cashiers Office and pay the $18 late-drop fee.
  • Bring the drop slip back to the Registrar's Office, where the course will be dropped for you.

If one of the signatories does not recommend approval:

  • The petition then needs to go before the Credits Committee which meets every two weeks throughout the semester.
  • After it has been acted on, you will be contacted via email to know the action taken by the committee. You will be told at that time what other action, if any, you will need to take.
