UW-Superior Research
UW-Superior's involvement in funded research and grant writing is significant, and UW-Superior currently has the 4th highest level of Federal funded research of the thirteen UW-Institutions. This can be attributed significantly to the fine work of faculty and staff within our research centers and institutes. Faculty and staff have built national and international reputations in applied transportation and logistics research as well as in research in the natural sciences. UW-Superior researchers are know for their applied environmental research to include work with invasive species on the Great Lakes as well as with ballast water treatment testing.
Research Centers and Institutes: UW-Superior is home to the Lake Superior Research Institute (LSRI) and the Transportation and Logistics Research Center (TLRC). We are in partnership with the University of Minnesota Duluth and share the Directorship of the Great Lakes Maritime Research Institute (GLMRI).
Student Research: We pride ourselves in providing students with opportunities to apply what they are learning in the classroom, into research projects in the community and within our Centers and Institutes. In addition to funded research, UW-Superior has a solid history of student involvement in both undergraduate and graduate research with students participating in projects that have received national as well as regional recognition.
To aid faculty with recurring funding for their work, the Office of Grants and Research is committed to providing support for the pre-award process of grants administration, and provides the resources that faculty and staff will need when making a decision to become involved in grant writing.
