Dr. William Simpson, associate professor of health (HHP), and Nicole Hiebing, Class of 2009, presented research papers about student health and wellness on June 4 to the American College of Sports Medicine annual meeting in Baltimore.
Simpson's paper, titled "Comparison of Health Behaviors Among Five Majors Across Campus" was co-authored with UW-Superior undergraduate students Dessa Rae Erickson, Peter Morrissette, Jenna Halvorson and Brittany Sukala. The paper used information gathered during a spring 2009 course in the university's Health and Human Performance program.
Hiebing's paper was titled "Wellness Profiles of 18- 20-Year-Old Freshmen." It examined wellness profile data gathered during the university's basic health and fitness course completed by all students.
Hiebing, who majored in Physical Education--Exercise Science, is employed full time at a private cardiology practice in Sheboygan, Wis. She oversees cardiac rehabilitation, stress testing and health behavior programs. (Posted June 4, 2010)
