200+ single rooms offered at UW-Superior for 2014-15!
2014-15 is going to be an exciting year for 200+ students who will be living in single rooms in the residence halls at UW-Superior. With the completion of the Ross/Hawkes Hall renovation project, as well as listening to student demand, over three times as many single rooms will be available for Fall 2014.
“Students will have the opportunity to ‘opt-in’ for a single room through our new Live@UWS housing software for this fall,” Mickey Fitch, Assistant Director of Residence Life says. “We have heard loud and clear that students like the many options that are available on campus, including single rooms, so we want to be able to continue to meet that need with this offering.”
In years past, the residence halls have been near or over capacity. Due to this occupancy growth, Ross and Hawkes Halls were renovated to provide for more housing on campus.
Single rooms will be available in all three of the residence hall areas. Crownhart Hall will have 28 designated singles, Ostrander will have 20 singles, Curran-McNeill will have 24 singles, Ross will have 100 singles, and Hawkes Hall will have 48 single rooms. Ross and Hawkes Halls were redesigned to include more architecturally designed single rooms to meet the changing desires of students today.
Curran-McNeill-Ostrander Halls will be only for first-year students from UW-Superior, Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College, and Lake Superior College. Many first year students want to live in an environment that is designed just for them, so UW-Superior is dedicating an entire residence hall area to these students.
2014-15 will also see the return of the “21+ floor” to 4th floor Ross Hall. This environment is a special single-room only living space for 21yr old and older students who choose to live in the residence halls. UW-Superior has many non-traditional age students, so this environment is under high demand from students.

Please note that there are different room rates for CMO and Crownhart Hall versus Ross/Hawkes Halls. Consult room rates online through the UW-Superior Residence Life webpage.
