2014-15 housing fees see little increase
Students living in the residence halls at UW-Superior will be happy to hear that the housing fees may only increase a little into the 2014-15 academic year. "Our goal is always to make the residence halls an affordable, clean and safe place for students to live," says Ryan Kreuser, Director of Residence Life.
Each year, Kreuser reviews budgetary and financial information and proposes the new housing fees to the Residence Hall Association members. At the February 17th meeting, Kreuser visited with student floor representatives and executive board members about the proposed rates.
Sarah Soul, UW-Superior freshman majoring in computer science, shared "a lot of students are struggling to make ends meet and having the lowest [housing] rates they can still accomplish getting a higher education to better their lives." The 4th floor Hawkes Hall floor representative was pleased that the Director visited directly with Residence Hall Association students, as residence hall students are the ones that drive the budget for Residence Life.
Residence Life prides itself on being student-centered and affordable. UW-Superior have the lowest housing rates of all of the UW System four-year campuses. "The proposed rate increase is really focused around affordability," Kreuser said.
For more information about living on campus, contact Residence Life. All housing contracts go through Live@UWS, an online contracting, roommate matching and room selection service directed by the student. Consult room rates online through theUW-Superior Residence Life webpage. Students can find more information on the Residence Life Facebook page as well.
