    Entrepreneurial Training Program - A Business Plan Writing Course

    The Entrepreneurial Training Program (ETP) offered by the Wisconsin Small Business Development Center at UW-Superior provides the tools you need for business idea testing and business model improvement.

    Through instruction, guest speakers and coaching, the course serves those who are considering starting a business, owners of existing businesses struggling to get a handle on all the details, and those with successful companies that they want to grow.

    Using the Lean Business framework, you will learn how to:
    • Assess the market for your business idea
    • Answer the question, "Will people buy my product or service?"
    • Grasp your true operations, growth and staffing costs
    • Gain knowledge of resources to start or expand
    • Impress a lender with a dependable business plan
    • Better manage your business by analyzing key details

    After the course, receive one-to-one counseling at no charge to help complete your business plan

    You will receive:

    • Professional instruction by experienced business owner
    • Textbook
    • Handout materials
    • MS Word business plan template
    • MS Excel financial templates

    Proven Impact. Since 2003, over 1,900 students have completed the class with over 50% starting a new business or growing their existing business.

    Cost. The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation is offering qualified applicants Entrepreneurial Training Grants that cover most of the $1,000 course fee. The grant covers 75% of the tuition, reducing your cost to $250.

    Grant recipients must meet attendance requirements, complete a business plan by six months after start of course and participate in at least one hour of no-cost business consulting with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at UW-Superior.     Sign Up. Space in the Entrepreneurial Training Program is limited and will be filled on a first-come/first-served basis.

    Registration deadline is April 1, 2014.

    Dates and Times. The course will be offered from 5:30pm - 8:30pm:

    • Session 1: Thursday, April 3, 2014
    • Session 2: Wednesday, April 9, 2014
    • Session 3: Thursday, April 10, 2014
    • Session 4: Wednesday, April 30, 2014
    • Session 5: Thursday, May 1, 2014
    • Session 6: Wednesday, May 7, 2014
    • Session 7: Thursday, May 8, 2014

    Location. The class will be offered in Superior, Webster, Hayward, and Ashland, Wisconsin.

    • Superior: UW-Superior campus, Swenson Hall, Room 2003
    • Webster: Webster High School, NL (128)
    • Hayward: WITC-Hayward, Room 2 on Wednesdays & Room 6 on Thursdays
    • Ashland: WITC-Ashland, Room 219
