How to apply for scholarships:

  1. Get a scholarship application: Current students can get a scholarship application by printing the form on this website; from your academic advisor or the department in which you have a major; or by going to the University Advancement Office in Old Main, room 237. (New freshmen and school counselors, please go to our Admissions website for scholarship information for new freshmen and transfer students.)

  2. Complete the scholarship application: Complete parts A and B on page one and part D on page two. When those are complete, submit the application to your department chair or your advisor. (If you have a major in more than one department, you must provide a copy of the application to the chair of each department or your advisor in each department.)

Department chairs and advisors will collect the applications, complete part C on page one, and evaluate each application to determine which students shall be awarded Foundation Scholarships based on the donor-specified criteria for each scholarship.

  3. Submit your application by the deadline: You must submit your scholarship application to your department chair or advisor by 4:30 p.m. March 7, 2008.

  4. Watch for your Foundation Scholarship Award Letter: The University Advancement Office will mail award letters to students who were recommended for scholarships by mid-April 2008. If you are concerned about whether you were awarded a Foundation Scholarship, contact your department chair or advisor before contacting the University Advancement Office.

  5. Submit your Acceptance Form and Thank You Letter: After you have received your scholarship award letter, you have 30 days from the date on the letter to submit your Acceptance Form and Thank You Letter(s) to the University Advancement Office in Old Main, room 237. Only after the University Advancement Office has received these documents can a scholarship be applied to your account. Failure to submit the Acceptance Form and Thank You Letter within the 30-day period will result in the scholarship being re-awarded to another deserving student.

The scholarship award process:

  1. Distribute scholarship applications: Foundation Scholarship applications will be sent by the University Advancement Office to academic departments and advisors. These applications may be given to any student who wishes to apply for a scholarship. Applications also can be printed from this website.

  2. Complete the faculty/advisor portion of the scholarship applications: Students are responsible for completing parts A and B on page one and part D on page two. They then must submit the application to their department chair or their advisor.

Department chairs and advisors should collect each application, complete part C on page one, and evaluate each application to determine which students shall be awarded specific Foundation Scholarships based on the donor-specified criteria attached to the scholarship.

  3. Submit scholarship applications for approval: Students must submit scholarship applications to their department chair or advisor by 4:30 p.m. March 7, 2008.

Once the department chairs or advisors have completed all recommendations for students in their department to receive Foundation Scholarships, the department chairs or advisors must submit the completed applications to the University Advancement Office no later than 4:30 p.m. March 28, 2008.

If any department chair or advisor does not submit all scholarship applications for their department by 4:30 p.m. March 28 a Foundation Scholarship Committee will collect the forms from those department chairs or advisors and make recommendations for students to receive the scholarships which were allocated to that department.
