Students can request an appointment with a counselor in person, by e-mail or by phone.

Students are required to fill out an Intake Data form which will be evaluated by the counseling staff. The student will receive a call from a counselor as soon as reasonably possible to schedule an appointment for an interview and assessment.

Generally, appointments are available with in two weeks of the request; however, students may be put on a waiting list during busy times of the semester.

Students are responsible for notifying their counselor if there is a need to reschedule or cancel an appointment. Students can cancel appointments in person, e-mail or by phone.

If a student arrives more than 15 minutes late for a scheduled session, the appointment will be be rescheduled. If a student misses an appointment they must call SHCS to reschedule.

If a student does not contact a counselor to reschedule, their case will be closed at the end of that semester and re-opened only when the student initiates contact with a counselor to resume services.
