Tech Tip: Email Cleanup

Posted on Mar 29, 2010

This is a tip submitted from one of our readers and it expands on one of our previous tips - Checking the Size of Your Email.

As you may know, there is a 200MB limit on your campus email account. If you exceed that, you will no longer be able to receive or send email until you clean things up a bit.

One of the easiest and fastest ways to clean your email is to sort your emails by Size, then delete some of the larger ones that you no longer need.

Here's how:

In your email inbox, right-click the Size column heading and select Sort Descending. This will put the larger emails at the top of the inbox. Then you can choose the larger ones that you want to delete. Typically, emails with larger attachments or pictures will show up at the top of this list.

Clicking/Sorting the other inbox heading columns will get your inbox back to the look that you like.  Sorting by Received is the default view (Right click Received and choose Sort Descending).
