News and Events Details
The new site combines all the elements of the former Computing and Media Services and Network and Programming sites into one user friendly location. This reflects the fact that more than two years ago, both of these units merged into one group named Technology Services. The site was created using the new Common Spot web authoring system and can also be found by clicking on Technology from the UW-Superior homepage. One thing to note is that the IITS page has been separated from Technology Services. You can find the IITS page at http://www.uwsuper.edu/iits .
On the front page of the Technology Services site, there are several ways to find information. Along the left side of the page, there is a navigation menu along with our contact information. In the center of the page, there is a grouping of buttons with several quick links to our most used information and services. Above the quick links are tabs focused on the different groups that will use the site. We have presented these many forms of navigation to make the site user friendly for all, because different people navigate information in different ways.
UW-Superior Students, Staff, and Faculty will now have one location where they can get help for all of their campus technology needs. The Get Help button on the Technology Services page leads to our central help page at http://www.uwsuper.edu/technology/help/ . This page shows operating hours for both the Campus Helpdesk as well as ResNet for dorm support. Also on this page are tabs that lead to our online ticketing system for the campus and to the ResNet ticket entry form. On the campus page, there are links to the Footprints ticketing portal used by the helpdesk, our programming group, and for telephone support. By centralizing our help services, we hope to better serve our campus community and remove any barriers that might prevent a request for help or support.
One last exciting element of the site that will appear from time to time is our "System Maintenance/Outage" notification. This box will show on the top of our site and on several of the pages within the site when a critical campus system is down or scheduled for service. This will help us communicate to the campus by allowing users to visit our site when they think something may not be working. A great example of this may be an outage to our Learn@UW-Superior online learning tool. The user tries many times to log-in to Learn@UW-Superior, but is unsuccessful. A quick visit to our page will show the user whether or not an outage has been reported.
We hope everyone enjoys the new Technology Services site and find it very useful. As always if there are any questions, or comments, please contact the Technology Helpdesk at x8300.
Thank you,The Staff of Technology Services
