Broadband Grant Projects
UW-Superior staff partnered with other local public anchor institutions in the project planning for two UW-Extension lead federal grants to improve broadband service and adoption in Wisconsin. These grants are: Building Community Capacity through Broadband (BCCB), and Sustainable Broadband Adoption (SBA).

Superior is one of four demonstration communities that will build on the successful Chippewa Valley Community Area Network model to collectively decide how to connect facilities, provide broadband services, exchange traffic with providers and manage the addition of future institutions. The community area network will be "birthed" by connecting the public anchor institutions.
Community Area Network: Chippewa Valley, Wisconsin
Community institutions in Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin pooled their resources to build a high-speed broadband network. The high-speed connections create opportunities to share applications, and open up possibilities for new uses of technology.
Telestroke: High Speed Treatment
High speed broadband can provide high-speed treatment of stroke victims during the critical hours after symptoms begin. Such use of telemedicine provides rural hospitals access to specialty care once available only in bigger cities.
Broadband and Economic Development in Three Lakes, Wisc.
This is the story of how Three Lakes decided to become the technology hub of Wisconsin north woods to grow businesses-and made it happen.
Ecommerce from Anywhere to Everywhere: Drs. Foster & Smith
From its location in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, Drs. Foster & Smith became one of the nation's largest online sellers of pet and animal care products.
Business to Business Ecommerce: My Tires, Platteville Wisconsin
Small businesses now depend on broadband for much of their day-to-day operations. See how this unseen but indispensable technology speeds transactions and improves the quality of service of a tire shop in Platteville, Wisconsin.
Rural Ecommerce: Webwise Design & Carr Valley Cheese
Broadband provides opportunities for high-tech jobs and ecommerce, even in rural areas. Webwise Design creates websites and e-stores from rural Fennimore, Wisconsin. Carr Valley Cheese uses the web to enhance the marketing of their specialty cheeses.
