Voice Mail Instructions

 

To program your personal voice mail message and to set the security code:


 

  • Lift handset, dial 5000 (voice mail extension number).
  • At the beep, state your first and last name, press the * key.
  • Press the first three letters of your last name on the dial (7 for Q & 9 for Z).
  • Press one (1)
  • Record your personal greeting at the beep.
  • Enter a 4-10 digit security code, press the * key.
  • Re-enter your security code to confirm it, press the * key.
  • If satisfied with your mailbox settings, press 1 to confirm.
  • To activate your voice mail, call forward to the voice mail extension.


 

To forward all calls: (which will eliminate ringing)


 

  • Lift handset
  • Dial *2
  • Dial 5000 (voice mail extension)


 

To cancel all call forwarding:


 

  • Lift handset
  • Dial *3


 

To forward your phone to voicemail after four rings:


 

  • Lift handset
  • Dial *5
  • Dial 5000 (voice mail extension)


 

To cancel your phone voicemail after four rings:


 

  • Lift headset
  • Dial *6


 

Note: Typically * 5 is used to forward to voice mail. *2 will take precedence over *5 when both options are set.


 


 

Voice Mail Instructions

 

To retrieve messages:


 

From your phone


 

  • Dial 5000
  • Follow voice mail instructions


 

From another campus phone


 

  • Dial 8000
  • Dial 9 + your extension number
  • Follow voice mail instructions


 

From off campus


 

  • Dial 394-8000
  • Enter 9 + your extension number
  • Follow voice mail instructions


 

To change your personal greeting:


 

  • Lift handset, dial 5000
  • Dial security code and then dial 7 4 & follow instructions


 

To change your security code:


 

  • Life handset, dial 5000
  • Dial security code and then dial 7 7 4 & follow instructions
  • Record your personal greeting at the beep.


 

Voice Mail Tips

 

  • To interrupt and delete a message press 36 at anytime while listening


 

  • Single line telephones have a ”stutter” dial tone to indicate voice mail pending and call every half hour.


 

  • During the greeting, press * to go directly to the beep to leave a message.


 

  • You may leave a message by the first three letters of the person’s last name instead of by extension number. To do this, press ## when voice mail asks for the extension number.


 

  • You can dial through the voice mail prompts at any time.  You don’t have to wait. (Example: Dial 5000, enter your security code and dial 4 to immediately get to your messages.


 

  • While listening to a message, you may


 

Press 3 for the menu options

Press 7 to back up

Press 8 to pause

Press 9 to fast forward

Press * to stop

Press 5 to change the message volume


 

  • Note the yes and no responses are 1 and 2 respectively.


 

  • Messages remain queued for 14 days until they have been listened to.  There is no limit to the number of messages that you may receive. After listening to a message, press 6 to delete or 7 to archive. Archived messages remain available for 27 days.
