"I felt that my courses at UW-Superior adequately prepared me for a challenging graduate school program in Veterinary Medicine. All courses, both entry and upper level, were small enough to allow for plenty of interaction with professors, most of whom made themselves very available to students who needed assistance. I felt like I received the individualized attention of a private university without the associated private university price tag."

Active Teaching  and Learning

UW-Superior has higher expectations for its students. For them to rise to their full potential, it is necessary for the campus to provide a range of interactive, engaging experiences that connect their academic study to the world around them.

This campaign initiative gives the campus resources to enhance:

• Student research, internships and creative activities by providing funds for undergraduate students to work collaboratively with faculty or other professionals in their chosen fields of study. Projects approved could range from scientific study of lake water to production of a student-written play.

• The First-Year Experience by connecting new students to their campus right away so they have a greater chance at academic and lifelong success. The goal is to enhance such activities as a common learning experience, a freshman fellows program for research or artistic study, and an enhanced orientation program.

• Student leadership and citizenship development by providing service learning projects, enriched student activities and creation of leadership programs.

• Visiting artists and lecturers who give voice to the issues of society and artistic form to ideas.

• Faculty development so faculty members can grow in their field and so new faculty can access the tools they need to help them teach. One-third of our faculty will retire in the next 10 years and such resources are necessary to attract and retain a strong faculty.

We look to donors to recognize the value that connectedness gives to the social and academic success of students. A campaign goal of $2 million will help the campus engage in these activities.
