Technology Services for Student Organizations

UW-Superior provides many technology services for student organizations.  This guide will help you make the most of these services and resources.  Generally, you obtain services either through the Student Leadership Coordinator in the Rothwell Student Center (394-8111), or through the Technology Helpdesk (394-8300, helpdesk@uwsuper.edu), depending on the services you need, as described below.

Organization Websites

Officially recognized student organizations are encouraged to establish and maintain a website on the university’s web servers.  Requests for changes related to your organization website are made through the Student Activities Coordinator.  These could include:

Your organization can also make use of advanced Web services such as counters, surveys, or streaming media as part of your website.  Technology Services will assist you in implementing these features on your website, through the Helpdesk.

E-Mail Addresses

If you’d like a special e-mail address for your organization such as

MyGreatOrg@uwsuper.edu, you can also request this through the Student Leadership Coordinator.  If you need the organization’s e-mail password reset, you’ll also place this request through the coordinator.

Purchasing New Technology

You’ll need the approval of Technology Services for your organization purchases of computing, audio, or video equipment. We work with you to obtain the best equipment and prices, and to help you comply with university and state purchasing rules.  Contact the Helpdesk at x8300 or helpdesk@uwsuper.edu to start the purchasing process.

Maintaining Your Equipment

Technology Services provides support for the technology used by your organization.  If you have a technical problem, contact the Helpdesk for assistance.

Technology Services charges an annual fee for computer maintenance to student organizations.  This fee is about $225 per computer, and is mandatory.  Please include the fees in your budget for the year.

Technology Loan Services

Your organization can borrow equipment from the Technology Resource Center for program needs.  Projectors, laptops, digital still and video cameras, portable sound systems, and a variety of other items are available.  Call x8300 to reserve equipment.

The following university technology policies are among those that specifically apply to your organization.  You’ll want to be familiar with their requirements:
