Supervisors: Barb Erickson and Joanne Beck
Department: Registrar’s Office
Entrusted with a great amount of responsibility, the student

UW-S campus including electronically transferring records from
the Admissions office to the Records office and imaging academic
student records and attaching them to the appropriate student
"file." Their less serious responsibilities including watering
the plants and decorating the office for the seasons.
We appreciate their always pleasant personalities and want to
thank them for their contributions, work ethic and dedication.
We are fortunate to have them. |

 |
Student Employee: Ryan Nesvold
Supervisor: John Munson
Department: KUWS Radio - Sports
Ryan is one of the behind the scenes people who helps make KUWS
sports broadcasts possible. Without in-studio producers it would
be impossible for KUWS to cover sports like UWS Hockey and
Basketball or Superior High School Football. The in-studio
producer makes the connection to the game site and fills in with
news and weather between periods. Ryan also had to prepare high
lights for the post game show. When he isn't working sports,
Ryan also fills in as a receptionist working at our front desk.
We get lots of phone calls at KUWS and whoever is working the
desk has to know where to send callers. Ryan has worked at KUWS
for three years and is a valuable member of our team. Thank you
Ryan! |
|
 |
Student Employee: Amy Hildre
Supervisor: Kim Gustafson
Department: KUWS Radio - Receptionist
Amy has been a vital part of our front desk staff at KUWS for
two years. The first contact people often have with our radio
station is a friendly voice answering the telephone, and Amy has
provided that friendly greeting. In addition, Amy has also kept
our community events and public service announcements up to
date. Thi s year, she also took on the responsibility of
maintaining the Community Calendar page on our web site,
www.kuws.fm. During the set up for a recent remote, it was Amy
who discovered the unplugged piece of equipment that was
preventing us from getting our remote signal on the air --
without her, the program would have been lost. Thank you Amy! |
|
 |
Student Employee: Brandie Smith
Supervisor: John Munson
Department: KUWS Radio - Jazz Director
Brandie Smith took over as Jazz Director at KUWS this year after
having worked on the show as an announcer last year. In

The Deans List. As Jazz Director, Brandie has a lot of
responsibility -- supervising other announcers, maintaining the
music library, reviewing new music, and making sure that the
on-air music inventory is up to date. It's a big job. In
addition, Brandie has helped produce UW-Superior basketball
broadcasts and has worked on training new staff. Her hard work
and dedication have had good results on the air. Thank you
Brandie! |

Kerissa, I thought I could handle the work load
by myself with no Student Worker. WRONG!!!! I can't even begin
to tell you how much you have helped me. I am constantly amazed
by your work ethic, speed of accomplishing projects, attitude

of little projects, answering the phone and constant
interruptions that occur in here daily. I am so grateful that

Student Employee: Derrick Fredrickson
Supervisor: Scott Abrahamson
Department: Grounds
It was 8:00am on a Monday morning four years ago; it was the
first day of employment for our summer workers. I was standing
in our Facilities Management office on 28th Street, informing my
supervisor that one student that we had hired for the summer did
not show up. At that moment Derrick walked into the office
looking for work. Being in the right place at the right time
paid off for Derrick and us. He was hired and has worked for us
since, been lead worker for our summer crews the last 3 summers.
Derrick graduates this May, we wish him well, he's been a
pleasure to work with. |

Student Employee: Dulcie Vermilion
Supervisor: Jody Johnson
Department: Library – Technical Services – Finder of lost books
and book weeder
Thanks to Dulcie's hard work it's getting harder to find old,
damaged books on the library shelves and much easier to find the
new books. It's not a glamorous job to search out and discard
those dusty, disintegrating volumes. Dulcie is the best of the
best book weeders and knows 101 ways how to find a missing book.
No damaged book or lost book can hide from her. |

Supervisor: Lorraine Washa, Marcia Pekkala, Shane Deadrick and
Ben Mooney
Department: Admissions
All of our students play an important and integral part in the
day to day operation of the Admissions Office. They do a variety
of tasks from data entry, greeting the general public,
prospective students and parents, and the campus community to
arranging and giving tours of the campus, mailing and
disseminating promotional materials about UW-Superior, answering
the telephone and calling prospective students.
Our students are invaluable and we could not function without
them. We are so fortunate to have so many wonderful students
working in the Admissions Office this year. The work load could
not be completed without them on a daily basis but we still
manage to have fun in our office and appreciate all of their
hard work. We want to extend our gratitude and a HUGE 'THANK
YOU' of all of them. |

Student Employees: Matt Amerson, Sampada Gaiwad, Jessica
Hill, and Jacob Rosandich
Supervisor: Evelyn Hagfeldt
Department: Graduate Studies
The Office of Graduate Studies staff are a lifeline for
students, faculty and staff
It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I commend the work
of Matt Amerson, Sampada Gaikwad, Jessica Hill and Jacob
Rosandich. All are instrumental to our graduate programs by
providing computer entry of student records, clerical assistance
and customer service for the Offices of Graduate Studies and
Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. They respond
professionally by taking care of requests from students, faculty
and staff to include answering questions, directing people to
the appropriate office, mailings, filing, and researching
background information for the smooth processing of graduate
records. Individually, they have achieved a level of expertise
in a variety of areas:
Matt Amerson works primarily with graduate admission and
registrations (A-K), graduate council petitions, and Beecroft
Travel Grant requests
Sampada Gaikwad works with the certification PeopleSoft
database, graduate forms management, filing, recycling, and the
literature organizer.
Jessica Hill works primarily with graduate admission and
registrations (L-Z), degree-seeking verification, admissions
reports, and current project research.
Jacob Rosandich (graduate student) works with graduate admission
and registrations (graduate special students and continuing
education), candidacy, graduation, test scores, and transfer
credits
Thank you all for being such great positive role models on this
campus! These strengths are echoed in the wealth of appreciation
this office receives from our graduate students, faculty and
staff. |
