CENTER AGAINST SEXUAL & DOMESTIC ABUSE, INC. (CASDA)


Job Title:
Shelter Fill-In Advocate


Shelter advocates are responsible for providing direct services to women and children residing in shelter (including empathetic listening and conflict resolution) and answering calls on the 24-hour, toll-free help line. Other duties include client intakes, documentation, facilities maintenance, and clerical support. All services must be provided in accordance with CASDA’s confidentiality policy and within the realm of its philosophy and mission statement.


Qualifications:

Must have the ability to interact effectively with individuals of various culture, ethnic background, age, gender, affect ional preference, ability, socioeconomic status, etc. Must have the ability to set clear, professional boundaries and the ability to maintain client and agency confidentiality. Must also be self-directed yet work effectively with a team. Must be able to climb stairs.


Rate of pay: $8.50 per hour Hours: Vary Number of Openings: 1-4

SUPERIOR PUBLIC MUSEUMS



Job Title: Tour Guide


Tour guides give tours to visitors at one of the museum sites, Fairlawn Mansion and Museum, SS Meteor, and the Old Firehouse and Police Museum. When not giving tours, employees do a variety of tasks including clerical work and housekeeping.

Typical Tasks:

Provide tours to visitors in accordance with the script provided;
When there are no visitors waiting for tours, the following may be assigned:
Answer phones, direct calls;
Miscellaneous typing of memos, letters, etc.;
perform cashiering functions for admissions and gift shop sales;
Keep premises neat and clean;
Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned by the site manager.


Qualifications:

Ability to speak in front of groups of up to 20 people. Working knowledge of cash handling. Customer service skills.


Rate of pay: $8.00 per hour Hours: 10-20/week Number of Openings: 1-4

CITY OF SUPERIOR WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT

 


Job Title: Environmental Outreach Intern

This is a responsible position under the supervision of the Stormwater Coordinator. Duties include but are not limited to:

Assist with stormwater education for 5th and 6th grade students including rain garden tours, beach sweeps, preparing presentations, etc. Perform rain garden maintenance. Assist with stream monitoring and macro invertebrate surveys. Help staff booths at local events. Assist in planning and performing stream bank restoration projects. Conduct research necessary to update educational displays. Maintain organized collection of educational materials.

Qualifications:

Must be able to perform work independently, get along with all age groups, have good communication skills, and be able to instruct youths on subjects relating to stormwater and water quality. Knowledge of computer programs and research techniques. Willingness to work outdoors in gardens and to enter streams to collect samples. Preferred majors: Biology, Chemistry, Sciences.

Rate of pay: $9.00 per hour Hours: 5-10/week Number of Openings: 1
