Assistant Professor
Social Studies Education

POSITION: Assistant Professor, Social Studies Education
DUTIES:
· Teach Secondary Social Studies Methods course
· Teach Elementary Social Studies Methods courses in both on-campus and distance education formats
· Supervise Student Teachers in Social Studies
· Teach academic coursework in doctoral field
· Advise secondary education students in social studies as well as other students in doctoral field
· Participate in development and oversight of the Broad Field Social Studies Major for Secondary Education and Social Studies Minor for Elementary Education
· Participate in program development and oversight in doctoral field
· Serve as member of the Educational Programs Advisory Committee and participate in Content Area Specialists meetings
· Develop and participate in cooperative programming with local school districts
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Ph.D. in History, Sociology, Political Science, or Anthropology
· 3 years experience as
a teacher at the elementary and/or secondary level
· Masters in Education or related field a plus
· University level teaching experience
· Demonstrated commitment to quality teaching and learning methods
· Commitment to UW-Superior’s public liberal arts mission and to educational equity
· The successful candidate will be dynamic, energetic, creative, and engaging
· Willingness and interest in utilizing technology in the classroom strongly preferred
· In addition, the candidate must be committed to the highest ethical standards and demonstrate effective leadership and teamwork skills
· Candidates that incorporate issues of inclusive excellence and diversity within their curriculum are especially encouraged to apply
