The University of Wisconsin-Superior Outdoor Adventure Program (SOAP) is a student-funded recreational program. The intent of SOAP is to provide outdoor and social experiences emphasizing adventure, environmental awareness, education, challenge, personal development, safety, as sense of community and fun.
Trips
The SOAP offers a broad range of activities throughout the academic year. Trips are organized activities designed to introduce UW-Superior students to the outdoor recreational opportunities of the Lake Superior region and beyond. Occasionally, throughout the year, SOAP offers evening clinics on a wide range of outdoor related topics.
Equipment
The UW-Superior Outdoor Adventure Program equipment is available for SOAP members. Equipment is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Equipment is available for usage 7 days a week and can be reserved for weekend use starting every Tuesday afternoon at 12:00 p.m. Anyone wishing to use SOAP equipment must present a valid UW-Superior ID along with the SOAP Membership card.
Repair and Work Areas
The SOAP office is home to a quality cross country ski and bicycle repair shop. The tools and bench or rack space is available for SOAP users to tune or repair their own equipment. Additionally, there is a sewing machine for repair or fabrication of soft goods.
Resource Material
The SOAP office has maps and resource books to assist members in planning their own adventures. If users have questions concerning places to go or things to do, the SOAP staff can help. The professional staff at the SOAP office has climbed, skied, canoed, kayaked, mountain biked and explored the Lake Superior region for years. They are willing to share their experiences so that SOAP users can plan their own quests.
