UW-Superior students Emily Alberio and Brianna Crumbaker have been named the winners of the 2009-10 Women's and Gender Studies Essay Contest.
Emily Alberio has been awarded first place in the creative-expressive division of the contest for her essay entitled "Two Pink Lines" A junior, Emily is pursuing an individually designed major in Spanish and a minor in global studies.
Brianna Crumbaker has won in the scholarly category for her essay "Are We Truly Equal?: Women's Issues in American and Muslim Cultures." Brianna, who will be starting her sophomore year in the fall, is majoring in speech communication and minoring in Spanish.
A reception to honor these students for this accomplishment will be held in the fall. Watch for details!
