Health and Human Performance Department
The Physical Education Major, EC-A Licensure program follows the teacher certification policies and guidelines established by the UW-Superior Educational Leadership Department. Students seeking EC-A teacher certification are required to take selected courses in Physical Education and Teacher Education in a prescribed sequence. HHP 110, Intro to HHP Majors/Minors, helps students interested in the program to understand its requirements. Upper level courses are then required in both departments. HHP department advisors work closely with students to design a program that encourages timely completion of their degree at UW-Superior.
HHP Physical Education teaching candidates observe and establish professional relationships with local physical educators, coordinate fitness assessments, help with I-Movie projects and organize the local Track-O-Rama event for Superior 5th grade public school students.
Physical Education majors can minor in Health Education, Coaching, and Exceptional Education to enhance their career opportunities. Students are also encouraged to earn certifications which can provide added-value to the skills they bring to potential employers.
