What does a typical day look like for you (type of work/tasks you perform regularly)?

"Tasks I perform regularly include prevention of injuries via taping/bracing, creating rehabilitation programs for student-athletes, evaluating injuries, providing first aid, documenting and communication between coaches, parents, athletes and other healthcare professionals. I work as a high school outreach athletic trainer, so I cover the following events throughout the year - football, soccer, volleyball, basketball, hockey, wrestling, gymnastics, baseball, softball, lacrosse and track."

How did your coursework, internship(s) and/or student employment prepare you for your current job?

"My coursework and internship at UW-Superior immensely prepared me for my job by providing me with a great education and learning opportunities. In the Exercise Science program, I learned a lot about the human body and was able to apply that information to my internship. During my internship, I learned what knowledge is necessary to become a quality healthcare professional."

The environment at UW-Superior provides an opportunity for students to branch out, discover new interests, get to know people from different backgrounds and find a place in the community. How did the environment at UW-Superior allow you to find what you wanted?

"The greatest thing about UW-Superior is that it caters to the students. UW-Superior is very willing to help find the best path for each person. I was able to study abroad, play a sport and find the right path to my career."

This is just the beginning of your career! What are your hopes and goals for your career, say ten years down the road?

"I am happy where I am at in my career right now, but I hope to continue broadening my knowledge. Health care is always changing, so it is important to stay up to date on the latest information."
