Student Jobs

Earn and learn with a student job in Biology!

Qualified biology students have a wide array of opportunities for employment in a biology-related position in the Biology program at UWS.  Positions commonly available each semester include:

  • managing laboratory preparation rooms
  • setting-up and take-down of lab materials
  • student peer assistant during lab periods
  • curating collections of plants and animals
  • tutoring underclassmen in biology courses
  • assisting with faculty research
  • working as a greenhouse or herbarium assistant

In these positions, you'll gain valuable experience, earn money, and develop a relationship with a work supervisor who may be willing to write a valuable reference letter in the future.

In addition to positions in the Biology program, a variety of applied technical positions and internships are routinely available with the Lake Superior Research Institute.  Contact LSRI staff to inquire about opportunities.

To get a Student Position in Biology, inquire with a Biology faculty member about current opportunities.

Work-study positions are available to students who received a work-study award as part of their financial aid package.

Student assistantships
are available on a limited basis to students who did not receive work-study.
