Physics - Minor

UW-Superior offers a Physics minor that provides students with a strong background in areas such as mechanics, electricity and magnetism, thermal physics, optics and quantum mechanics. This minor is a good complement to majors in chemistry, biology or mathematics.

The physics minor also offers an option that can be used to earn certification to teach high school physics. Students pursuing this option must also meet the professional educational requirements offered by UW-Superior's Teacher Education Department.

  • Small classes and labs provide opportunities to work one-on-one with faculty members.
  • Possible topics covered in physics that may become a career are: solid state, optical, nuclear, elementary particle, atomic, molecular and electron, fluid and plasma, space and planetary, acoustical-physics, biophysics and astro-physics.
  • UW-Superior has a strong campus science community in its Chemistry and Biology and Earth Sciences departments. Those programs, along with the Physics program, are housed in Barstow Hall, which is a dedicated science facility.
  • Students work in the classrooms and laboratories of Barstow Hall, which is dedicated to science programs.
