I have the ability to work full time and take classes full time as well. The flexibility has allowed me to utilize my time and graduate on schedule.
A great opportunity to intern at Krech Ojard & Associates, Inc. and work with engineers and architects, brought Marcia Drabek to the Twin Ports. Marcia didn’t want to put a hold on the education she had been receiving for a degree in Engineering Management from Michigan Tech, so she decided to Be Superior.
“While I’m only at UW-Superior for two semesters before I head back to Michigan Tech, I am really enjoying my time on this campus,” said Marcia. “I have the ability to work full time and take classes full time as well. The flexibility has allowed me to utilize my time and graduate on schedule.”
Even though she has only been here a short time, Marcia has gained skills that she’s using at her internship thanks to the approach that UW-Superior takes in education.
“All of my classes have focused on writing, and have made sure that writing well is included in everyone’s skill set,” she said. “I’m planning on being a project manager for an engineering firm, so I’ll have to write a lot of proposals and use these skills.”
Marcia has also found other positive differences while studying at UW-Superior compared to Michigan Tech.
“I really enjoy the smaller class sizes. You’re noticed here, whereas there are normally 200 students in general education classes at Michigan Tech,” she said. “There are also more options for general education classes here, and I like having choices.”
Aside from her education, Marcia also enjoys the campus community and atmosphere. The diverse population at UW-Superior has the goal of making others feel included, and this diversity has helped Marcia easily adjust during her time here.
“You don’t find the typical students at UW-Superior,” said Marcia. “I’m an extrovert, so being able to interact with a mix of students is amazing.”
A great experience and continuing a great education at UW-Superior has left Marcia looking forward to the future even more. She has been offered a full-time position with the company she’s interning with, so even though Marcia is headed back to Michigan Tech, she might just find herself in the Twin Ports again. Marcia is quite alright with that.
