TLM Student Club
About Us
The mission of the Transportation and Logistics Club (TLM Club) is to enhance the learning opportunities of the student body, particularly in the field of transportation and logistics.
We aim to:
- Serve as a focal point for students currently majoring in Transportation and Logistics
- Foster and expand upon the learning opportunities for students at UW-Superior
- Enhance the career preparation of students by giving members opportunities to see and experience real-world examples of jobs in the field
- Expand membership through active communication, recruitment, activities, and events
- Enhance campus and community awareness about the fields of transportation and logistics

Recent Events
Below are some highlighted events by TLM Club, more details can be found in TLM Newsletter
January 2018: On January 7-11, club members Muqing Li and Nhi Nguyen attended the Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C.
February 2018: On February 15th, four club members traveled to Whitewater, Wisconsin to compete in the Council of Supply Chain Management (CSCMP) Milwaukee Roundtable Case Study Competition. The team of John Bergstrom, Muqing Li, Robert Webber, and Marta Larson won the first prize during the competition.
March 2018: from March 18-23, nine club members were given a road trip to St. Louis, Missouri with Dr. Daniel Rust for the TLM Spring Break Trip.
April 2018: On April 20, twelve club members traveled to the Twin Cities to attend the CSCMP Annual Half Day Seminar.
May 2018: On May 11th, seventeen students celebrated Senior Send-off Banquet at Ace’s on 29th.
September 2018: Twenty club members travelled down to Long Beach, California from September 16-18, 2018 to attend the Intermodal Association of North America (IANA) Annual Conference and Case Study Competition. The UW-Superior team of Robert Anderson, Kristine Steiner, Marta Larson placed in the top 3 teams during the case study competition. Students were given a tour of the Port of LA and Port of Long Beach.
October 2018: In late October four club members went down to Milwaukee for the Aerospace Jam. The members talked to high school students and promoted Transportation and Logistics and Supply Chain Management. After, they were able to attend a Milwaukee Bucks game.
November 2018: On November 12th, four students traveled to Dallas, Texas for the annual Women in Trucking Conference. They attended sessions about problems faced in the industry and encouraging women in the industry. While they were there, they were also able to attend the alumni dinner.
December 2018: In early December, nine students, along with Dr. Daniel Rust and Dr. Richard Stewart, were able to attend the University of Minnesota’s Center for Transportation Studies Annual Freight Symposium. There they were able to learn about cybersecurity and the importance of it in the industry. They were then able to visit and job shadow at Coyote Logistics.
February 2019: On February 28-March 1, a group of students traveled to St. Cloud to meet with Dr. Sarah Campbell-Sengupta, a Professor in the Operations Management program and a member of the T&L/SCM Advisory Board, and the St. Cloud State APICS Supply Chain Student Club. The combined clubs went on several tours and got the chance to network with each other.
March 2019: On March 8th, a group of students had the opportunity to take a day trip to Eagan, MN and tour several companies. These companies included Bay and Bay Transport, Dart Transportation, and ABF Freight. This trip allowed students to network with industry professionals and see how each of the companies are run.

Speakers
March 2019: On March 26th, Commander John Herrington talked with the club. Commander Herrington is an astronaut and has spent time on the International Space Station. He discussed how he got to be an astronaut and some of his experiences. Later in the day, he had a presentation for the whole campus.
Some other speakers included Annie DeWitt of Coyote Logistics and Steven Rosso and Erica Hansen, a TLM Alum, from J.B. Hunt.
