Ray Kosey

Ray Kosey was named UW-Superior's best male athlete for two consecutive years while at the same time ranking among the university's leading scholars.

In baseball, Mr. Kosey was named All-District in 1987 and 1988, and First Team, Wisconsin State University Conference in 1988. He was named the team's Most Valuable Player in 1987 and team co-captain in 1988. Both years he earned Gold Glove Awards for playing center field without committing an error.

In football, Mr. Kosey was named Defensive Player of the Year, Defensive Back of the Year and team co-captain for both 1986 and 1987. He was named All-District in 1986 and 1987, First Team WSUC in 1987, and Honorable Mention All-American in NCAA Division III in 1987.

Mr. Kosey was named UW-Superior's Male Athlete of the Year in 1987 and 1988. He also excelled in the classroom, receiving the university's Award for Academic Excellence in 1989 and again in 1990, the year he graduated Cum Laude.

Since graduating, Mr. Kosey has taught for the Maple, Wis., public schools. As head football coach, he has led his teams to a 49-18 record, including three conference championships, two state quarter-final appearances and one state semi-final appearance.
