All people have the need for purpose in life and connection with others. Research indicates a link between decline in functional activities and loneliness. Helping a person stay engaged in functional, purposeful activities may lessen the likelihood of loneliness and isolation. Learn to recognize barriers to engagement and identify communication and environmental changes that foster continuation in purposeful activities.
