Lake Superior Day

SUNDAY, JULY 21, 2019, 11 AM - 3 PM

LOCATION: Lake Superior Estuarium, 3 Marina Drive, Superior, WI 54880

The community is invited to celebrate Lake Superior Day on Sunday, July 21, at the Lake Superior Estuarium on Barker’s Island in Superior.

Events get underway at 10 a.m. with Paddle for the People a family-friendly paddle craft race with North Shore SUP. Registration is available online. 

At 11 a.m. there will be a Barker's Island Beach Restoration kick off with Mayor Jim Paine, Wisconsin DNR Secretary’s Director James Yach, and Kris Eilers, director of the St. Louis River Alliance

Dan the Monkeyman will provide live music kids show at 11:15 a.m.

 There will be free stand-up paddleboard demos with North Shore SUP available from noon to 3 p.m.

John SonofMel will perform his workingman sensibilities in writing, song, and spoken word at 12:45 p.m.

At 1 and 2 p.m., there will be boat rides on the NOAA Research Vessel. The short harbor tours will be focusing on research and restoration of the St. Louis River.

Additionally, the event will include a kids tent with crafts and games, food, canoe demos with the Duluth Folk School, informational tables and an AMAZING free raffle with prizes from Epicurean, Trail Fitters, Earth Rider Brewing, Waters of Superior and more.
