Using Structured Reminiscence and Life Review to Increase Social Connecitons

There are many kinds of reminiscence – some much more helpful than others! Learn how you can structure a reminiscence or life review session to bring the greatest value to the reminiscer.  Learn how you can use reminiscence with individuals or groups to build meaningful connections and identify person-centered interventions that will help reduce isolation and loneliness.
Workshop Objectives
After completion of the presentation, participants will be able to:
1. Identify the different types of reminiscence utilized in practice and research.
2. Discuss the use of reminiscence as an evidence-based intervention to reduce loneliness and isolation.
3. Identify strategies that will promote successful and safe reminiscence sessions with patients and families.
4. Discuss the experience of reminiscing and active listening after role-playing activities.
5. Apply recommendations to own practice and research situations.
