You're Invited! In-Person Continuation: Understanding Uncertainty and COVID-19

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 18, 2021, 10:30 - 11:30 AM

LOCATION: These three gatherings (once a month) will take place in person at the Campus Medicine Wheel (or if inclement weather, the Pope Student Center – Old Main 232)

Dear Colleagues,

Over the course of the last year, the Department of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) and the Pruitt Center for Mindfulness & Well-Being hosted open sessions on Wednesday mornings as an opportunity for members of our campus community (faculty and staff) to gather and process everything that was happening due to Covid; maneuvering the move to remote working and teaching, feelings of isolation and loneliness as well as the feelings of freedom and flexibility; often all felt by the same person at the same time! As spring semester wound down, these Wednesday morning gatherings came to a close, and we discussed the possibility of meeting in person a few times over the summer as a way to connect, provide a safe space, check in with one another, recognize what we’re grateful for… and ease into re-entry!

We’d like to invite everyone to an in-person, outdoor gathering at the Campus Medicine Wheel between Swenson and the Yellowjacket Union (if inclement weather, we’ll meet in the Pope Student Center – Old Main 232) next Wednesday, June 30, from 10:30-11:30am, as a continuation of the virtual sessions we were holding over the course of last year. Again, this will be a way a way to connect, provide a safe space, check in with one another, recognize what we’re grateful for, and ease into re-entry—in other words, figure out how to be in person again! We will also be gathering on Wednesday, July 28 and August 18, 10:30-11:30am, outside at the Campus Medicine Wheel (or in the Pope Student Center – Old Main 232).

We hope to see you there!

Understanding Uncertainty and COVID-19, a weekly conversation with EDI and the Pruitt Center. These facilitated discussions provide a safe space for faculty and staff to come together as a campus community, to share and listen as we help one another to continue navigating the uncertainty of Covid-19. Check-in with how colleagues are doing; how folx are really doing. Come for the full hour or stop in as time allows. All thoughts, ideas and comments are welcome, as is just wanting to be with community to listen and learn.
