News and Events Details
Finals week is here and that means two things: lots of exams and students heading out for winter break. While most students are busy studying and taking exams, not all students are leaving Superior for winter break. At this time of the year, it is important for all faculty and staff to remember that a fair portion of our students do not leave Superior for break.
Although many of our students are from Wisconsin and Minnesota, we have representation on campus from 24 other states and 31 countries worldwide. Our international student population is close to 8% on campus. With the economy the way it is, and fuel prices surging for the holidays, even many domestic students will not be traveling within the United States, instead choosing to stay on campus or within their Superior home.
A few important things for us all to keep in mind this week:
Winter break is a time for relaxation, rejuvenation, readying, and reflection on the fall semester for all of us. However, our traditional assumptions of what winter break means for some may not be the reality for all. Being mindful of this reality can help all students feel welcome on our campus as we close one semester and transition to another.
The Campus Life Spotlight will be taking a holiday hiatus and will rejoin you on January 3rd, 2012.
