Throughout the academic year Career Services hosts events to assist students in a wide variety of career/job related skills development.
Please consider adding one of the following Career Services Event experiences as a requirement or assignment in your class. We can work with you to be sure students attend with sign in sheets!
Check our Calendar of Events for upcoming instances of our Annual Events.
When: Early Fall
What: Partnering with Student Involvement, Career Services offers this Student Involvement and Part-Time Job Fair to UW-Superior early in the fall semester. Booth holders include Non-Profits, On-campus Employers, Student Orgs, and Off-Campus Employers and Merchants. This fair is a fun atmosphere and students will have many opportunities to connect to the community and campus.
When: An Evening a few days before the Fall Head of the Lakes Job Fair
What: This is one of our most popular events on campus. The event is a cooperative venture of the Alumni Association, Career Services and the School of Business and Economics. Students meet with employers and have the chance to network in a safe environment while also learning the etiquette and tips on making a good first impression. Students meet with the employers in a series of short sessions that resemble a speed dating event. It is designed to let students practice networking skills while meeting with potential employers.
Prepare for the Fair
When: Week leading up to the Spring Head of the Lakes Job Fair
What: This is a week filled with a variety of events, hosted mostly over the lunch hour, that assist students in their preparation for the job fair. From a fashion show featuring professional attire, to professional headshots, to extra help on resumes and cover letters, we will help students feel confident and prepared going into the job fair!
Head of the Lakes Job and Internship Fair
What: UW-Superior Career Services partners with the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) and College of St. Scholastica (CSS) to host the Head of the Lakes Job and Internship Fair. Each year the fall fair is at UMD and the spring fair is at UW-Superior. There, younger students can network, look for internships, meet employers, and observe their career field, while older students can also network, apply for positions, and set up interviews with potential employers.
A shuttle system from UW-Superior to UMD is provided for the fall fair.
On-Campus Recruitment Day is hosted the day after each fair for employers to come to UW-Superior and interview or recruit students.
Graduation Preparation Week
When: Week prior to Spring Finals
What: This week long event helps not only students who are graduating and setting out on the career hunt, but also is useful to students who are searching for part-time work. The tips given out during this week are applicable to anyone who is looking for a job! Presentations may include: networking and first impression tips, how to negotiate, navigating benefits and HR, and additional resume, cover letter, and interview assistance.
