Keynote speaker Marcia Avener, Author of The Lobbying and Advocacy Handbook for Nonprofit Organizations. This dynamic, interactive session will prepare you to develop your organization's advocacy goals, strategies, and plans. We'll focus on what we mean by advocacy, lobbying, and organizing. The laws governing nonprofit advocacy and lobbying will be explained so that you realized how much your organization can actually do to and how to report your activities. And we'll be specific about the way you can prepare your organization to be effective in shaping policies that improve people's lives. Be prepared to begin your own work as we discuss principles and practices that enable nonprofits to be leaders in shaping local and state policy.
