Dr. Daniel William Lawrence is a writer, musician, scholar, educator, woodsman, and investor. He enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter, two dogs, and two cats, especially at their cabin in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. As a musician and songwriter, he has toured and performed in a number of groups across the United States, playing the guitar, mandolin, and tenor banjo. He is also a blockchain technology, cryptocurrency, and personal finance enthusiast.
Professional Background
Dr. Daniel William Lawrence received his BA in English from Northern Michigan University and PhD in Rhetoric and Technical Communication with a specialization in Digital Media Theory from Michigan Technological University. He has managed digital strategies for a regional healthcare company, held a marketing role at one of Portland, OR's top commercial real estate firms, and has advised numerous small and medium-sized businesses on their web and digital strategies. His dissertation, "On the Digital-Political Topography of Music," lays a framework for the rhetoric of music in the digital age. His interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed research examines intersections of rhetoric, music, and technology.
