Academic background:

I received my Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from the University of St. Thomas and my Master of Arts in Sociology from Ohio University. My thesis research focused on abused women in rural Appalachia.

Research interests:

My ongoing academic interests include media and crime, transformative justice, juvenile justice, mass incarceration, and reentry.

Non-academic interests:

I love to garden, hike, explore, listen to podcasts, watch bad TV with my husband, enjoy my two little kids, and do puzzles. I am also a member of the Soka Gakkai International-USA Buddhist Organization and actively participate in activities to positively transform myself and society.
