Kim enjoys spending time with family and friends relaxing in nature, hiking, kayaking and canoeing, camping, reading mystery and sci-fi books, walking her dogs, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, and working with community members to build happy environments.
Professional Background
Dr. Kim LeBard-Rankila is the coordinator of the Community/Public Health program and assists with the Exercise Science program, both are programs in the HHP department at the University of Wisconsin-Superior Dr. LeBard-Rankila teaching kinesiology, community & environmental health, epidemiology, health coach, exercise physiology labs, supervises practicum experiences related to physical assessments and ethical leadership, advises undergraduate students and helps coordinate Internship experiences. Kim also maintains UWS status as an international exam site for four health related certifications through the American Council on Exercise (ACE), thus allowing students opportunities to expand their resume and career opportunities after graduation. Dr. LeBard-Rankila also works at Essentia health as a licensed PTA specializing in sports medicine, orthopedic and manual therapy.
Research Interests
Research interest focus on physical and emotional health across the lifespan with focus on: functional movement to maintain quality of life, emotional wellness, obesity issues, self-efficacy, employee wellness programs, and overall quality of life.

Organizations and companies have been assessed and programs started in multiple settings. Taught and researched multiple concepts associated with function, and taught and conducted research on obesity for multiple settings.

Current Position
Senior Lecturer (100%) in the Health and Human performance Department as of 2012. Lecturer (50%) from 2005-2011, and Ad hoc instructor at UW-Superior from 1991-2005 in the HHP department.
Current Responsibilities
Responsibilities include teaching Community and Environmental health courses, exercise labs, Kinesiology, Epidemiology, advising undergraduate students in the HHP department, assisting in professional development and maintaining UWS status as an international exam site for five health-related certifications through the American Council on Exercise (ACE).
Ms Rankila also works at St. Mary/Duluth Clinic as a licensed PTA specializing in sports medicine, orthopedic and manual therapy.
