University of Wisconsin-Superior

Lori loves to learn, laugh, and connect with others, which isn't all that surprising since curiosity, humor, and love are her top VIA strengths. She is the Program Manager for the Pruitt Center for Mindfulness & Well-Being at the University of Wisconsin-Superior where she teaches Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and other proactive/preventative (‘upstream') methods of improving mental health and well-being. She loves to collaborate with others both on and off-campus, so please don't hesitate to reach out to her if well-being is an area of interest for you or simply an area you would like to learn more about.

Lori has a Master of Science in Positive Organization Development and Change, along with Certificates in Appreciative Inquiry and Emotionally Intelligent Leadership & Executive Coaching, all from Case Western Reserve University; a Certificate in Positive Psychology from the Wholebeing Institute and Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health, with which she was a teaching assistant after completing the program herself; and is an associate credentialed coach with the International Coach Federation. She recently completed a certificate as an End-of-Life Doula from the University of Vermont Medical School. She is a Level 2 teacher of MBSR through the Mindfulness Center at Brown University, where she is finishing her Certification, although she did most of her training at UMass Medical Center.

Lori is the author of a Nautilus Silver Award-winning picture book Ways to Be from A to Z (illustrated by one of her daughters). This multi-cultural alphabet book is about positive ways of being, reminding kids and the adults in their lives that while we may not be able to choose what happens to us, we all have the choice for how we want to be in the world. Our choices affect not only ourselves, but the people around us, too, so it's important for us to choose wisely!

Originally from southern Minnesota, Lori and her husband, Mark, have spent the last 30+ years in western Massachusetts. They have four grown kids, three daughter/sons-in-law, and four grandkids. In addition to learning and laughing, she loves to be outside walking (or cross-country skiing, biking, hiking, or swimming!) in nature with family and friends, traveling, and doing jigsaw puzzles.
