Web Programming and Development Support

  • Provide web programming support for web content management systems which functionality to systematically search, categorize, backup and expire web content
  • Support the server environment including authoring and production servers
  • Support web server (IIS) including web site management and virtual directories
  • Support underlying technologies including data sheets, databases, flash video, and server side scripts
  • Manage content management system security including LDAP and SSL
  • Follow standard systems development life-cycle
  • Troubleshoot and resolve web site problems
  • Keep users and management informed of progress and project status
  • Coordinate projects with other affected units of the University and external agencies

Web Functional Support

  • Organize and effectively manage web projects, assist with requests for managed web page support and provide timely response
  • Support the design of the University web pages and oversee web design consulting
  • Provide training and conversion support for web pages, including site map development and content conversion
  • Support decentralized web content authoring
  • Support web applications including forms, event calendar, news, surveys, blogs, and database applications
  • Develop and enforce web policies such as content authoring standards and URL name policy
  • Integrate the content management system with the student information system and portal
  • Support web page link integrity and content expiration
  • Ensure that inquires and requests from users are adequately addressed

Web Site Patches, Upgrades and Security

  • Research new modules and upgrades made available by vendors
  • Prepare documentation relative to upgrade functionality
  • Work with technical personnel and functional users to schedule and guide testing effort of new modified functionality
  • Work with technical personnel to implement upgrades and apply modifications to existing functionality first in a test environment and eventually in live, production environment
  • Perform system security administration

Miscellaneous Duties

  • Supervise student interns to leverage productivity
  • Learn new technologies that can potentially automate processes and improve productivity
