Professional Background

Dr. Rubana Mahjabeen is currently an Assistant Professor of Economics in the School of Business and Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Superior. Previously, she taught at the University of Kansas and Truman State University. Her teaching and research interests include: poverty, microfinance, economic development and growth, international economics, applied economic analysis and business sustainability. Her current areas of expertise lies in the promotion of undergraduate research and study of regional economy. Through academic-service learning projects she stimulates her students to study and research about local low-income households. She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Kansas, a Master's degree in Economics from Texas A&M University, and a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Dhaka University in Bangladesh.

Research Interests

Rubana Mahjabeen's current research work is related to regional economy, low-income households, child labor, and regional educational attainment.
