About

When not teaching and learning, Dr. Larson Kidd enjoys yoga, everything outside, nature and is a musician. One of her favorite positive phrases is a quote from R. Schuller: Be filled with expectation, hope and confidence. Believe something good is going to happen and it usually will.

Professional Background

Dr. Larson Kidd has taught in public and private schools as a special education paraprofessional, teacher and administrator.  She has been teaching graduate and undergraduate teachers, counselors, social workers and therapists in higher education at several universities in the US for over 20 years. Dr. Larson Kidd has also supported the community as a consultant for 17 years. Her mission is to serve to the best of her capacity for the highest benefit of all.  She believes all children and youth can learn and it is our responsibility to figure out how.

Research Interests and projects

Dr. Larson Kidd has a passion for applying cognitive and social neuroscience to all aspects of teaching, learning and quality of life. She is a certified Brain Based Coach for the Oxford Brain Institute and has worked in this capacity in such places as Silicon Valley and the NOAA. Dr. Larson Kidd recently completed a research project that was grant funded at St Luke’s hospital in the Rehabilitation Department and was awarded a follow up grant to that project. Much of her research, presenting, writing and grant work surrounds children/youth and people with autism and other neurobehavioral disabilities.

Dr. Larson Kidd has a book in press with Oxford Brain Institute entitled Educating Children/Youth with Autism: A social brain perspective due to come out in early 2021.
