Academic background:

As an instructor, the ability to model the ability to problem solve situations and tap into metacognition skills is essential in preparing teachers and students for living in our world today. Costa and Kallick's sixteen essential characteristic for success through Habits of Mind are essential in the classroom to help educators understand and develop in their teaching practices. Brene Brown author of "Daring Greatly" has changed my life through the art of vulnerability. It is through vulnerability, I have learned great teachers and leaders are not born, they become great and inspirational through a life time of continued learning.

Research interests:

In addition to my passion for school law and education, I am dedicated to advocating for the civil rights of individuals with disabilities, researching the cause and interventions to help those on the Autism Spectrum and developing the next generation of great educators and administrators.

Non-academic interests:

I love reading, teaching classes at the university level, giving community presentations, and traveling. I volunteer on many community committees as I believe in the power of problem solving, collaboration and team work.

Notable awards:

2002 Teacher of The Year-Wittenberg-Birnamwood School District, and 2016  Outstanding Faculty of the Year-Colorado Christian University

Area of knowledge:

Special Education Law

I provide numerous public presentations on Special Education Law each year. I was hired as a content expert for Colorado Christian University to develop their special education master’s degree courses.
