August 2014 marks the start of my 17th year at UW-Superior with the Office of Multicultural Affairs. My role as Multicultural Student Services Specialist is to assist students in their academic career and personal growth. I help students connect with faculty, staff, other students, departments, on and off campus mentoring opportunities and programs that make a difference for themselves and our communities. I also set up awareness programs on American Indian, African American, Hispanic and Asian American culture and issues throughout the year.
A little about me: My heritage includes Grand Portage Ojibwe, African American, Polish, German, Dutch, Scottish and English. I am proud to be a part of each. My favorite job in higher education is working with students. I believe that when one gains an education they are not only benefitting themselves but also their own communities.
