Yunhong "Tom" Tu is an Assistant Professor of Library Science and Instructional Designer. He has been with the university since 2006. He teaches educational technology and introduction to distance learning courses both face-to-face and online. As an Instructional Designer, he works with the instructors on the design and development of their online and hybrid/blended courses. He is a Quality Matters certified National Peer Reviewer for online and hybrid courses. He designs and leads various new online instructors' training programs. Collaborating with Technology Services staff, he offers Learn@UW-Superior (D2L) training to the campus. He is an active contributing member of the Online Community of Practice at UW-Superior. 

He has over 20 years' experience in teaching and learning with technology in both K-12 and higher education settings with the most recent 10 years dedicating to instructional design, distance/online education and integrating instructional and learning technologies into higher education curriculum. He is an advocate of using data driven approaches to guide educational practices. He is interested in bridging Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) and technology. As the Campus Representative to UW System's Learning Technology Development Council (LTDC), his goal is to disseminate LTDC or UW-System learning technology information to the appropriate constituents on our campus in a timely and efficient manner, encourage and promote the application of learning technologies among our faculty and staff members.

When he is free, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, playing sports with his children, photographing, reading, listening to music, singing, running and hiking. He is a Virginia Tech Hokie football fan and a UWS Yellowjacket hockey fan.
