Bias Incident Reporting

Bias Incident Response Team is designed to provide information about reporting bias incidents and/or hate crimes and to outline the procedures the University will follow in response to such reported incidents. Through this team and established protocol the University will respond appropriately by supporting the target(s) of such acts. The response includes conducting a review of the situation; if necessary, referring respondents to appropriate conduct body for action against the person(s) found to be responsible; advising the UW-Superior community of the occurrence when appropriate; and implementing programs that educate against, prevent, and eliminate acts of bias and hate.

How to Report a Bias/Hate Incident

The preferred method of reporting is through the online Bias Incident Reporting Form. When you submit using the form, all members of the Bias Incident Response Team will receive your report and will act on it quickly. If you, or someone else is in imminent danger, you should contact 911 or University Police Department instead of completing the online form. Reports may also be given to these members of the Bias Intervention Response Team. These individuals include:

BIRT Support Network

The BIRT Support Network is a group of office on campus that provide assistance to those who may be affected by bias incidents or hate crimes. Students, Faculty and Staff can and will be referred to these offices for additional support throughout the review and beyond.
