 Here is background information on Mary Roggeman and Terry Ruzicka, who supported UW-Superior in Fall 2013 as it drafted the Strategic Enrollment Managment Plan.


Mary E. Roggeman

Mary Roggeman brings an extensive background in higher education, strategic planning, and executive leadership to her role at UW-Superior. Beginning her postsecondary career in 1974 at Milwaukee Area Technical College, Roggeman spent over 28 years at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where she held progressively-responsible positions including Executive Director of Financial Aid and Student Employment Services, Associate Vice Chancellor for Student and Multicultural Affairs, and Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. In her expansive roles, Roggeman provided strategic direction for the Division of Student Affairs and leadership for student service initiatives including recruitment planning and enrollment management. During her tenure at UWM, Roggeman co-chaired the Black and Gold Commission charged with developing and implementing a campus-wide strategic plan to improve the quality of the student experience.

Additionally, Roggeman has nearly eight years of executive experience in the non-profit sector. As Executive Vice President of Great Lakes Educational Loan Services, Inc., an affiliate of Great Lakes Higher Education Corporation, she served as chief executive officer for the Division of Marketing and Communications and the Division of Borrower Services for one of the nation's largest student loan servicing organizations. Roggeman provided strategic direction for over 550 full-time staff in multiple business locations and focused on developing and maintaining strategic lender and school relationships as well as overseeing marketing, communications, client services, and product development and support.  She also served as a consultant to higher education institutions on student loan issues and student financing options.

Roggeman holds a bachelor's degree in health sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a master's in business administration from Cardinal Stritch University.

As Chief of Staff and Deputy Vice Provost in the Division of Enrollment Management at UW-Madison, Terry Ruzicka serves a leadership role in enrollment management and planning, communications and outreach, human resources, budget, strategic planning, program planning, and research and policy development. She also leads a variety of collaborative projects and cross-divisional staff development and service improvement initiatives.

Chairing the division's Inclusive Excellence and Professional Development Team, Ruzicka works with staff across the division and the campus to foster a workplace culture of inclusive excellence, respect and professionalism, with an emphasis on staff development and growth.

Ruzicka first joined UW-Madison in 2004 as communications consultant to the Office of the Registrar for the e-Grading (faculty electronic grade submission) project. Concurrent with that assignment, she also served as a communications consultant for other campus-wide initiatives. Ruzicka's earlier professional career spanned 20 years at UW-Milwaukee, in roles including Special Assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Director of the Office of Adult and Returning Student Services, and Assistant Director of Enrollment Services. She began her university service in the Office of Student Financial Aid at UW-Milwaukee. Ruzicka earned an M.S. from UW-Milwaukee in Administrative Leadership and Supervision, with an emphasis on higher education.
