Re: Council Chair Report

The following is the Undergraduate Academic Affairs Council Report to the March 31, 2009 Faculty Senate Meeting. Supporting documents have been provided.

  1. Approved Council Minutes
  2. Items Requiring Senate Action
    • Global Studies Minor: This interdisciplinary minor would be housed in the Social Inquiry department and would not require new courses or resources. The minor is a component of the Liberal Arts Initiatives recommended by Faculty Senate in 2005.attachment attachment
    • MNSCU AA Transfer Agreement: This agreement would allow students with an AA degree from any of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities to obtain credit for all UW-Superior general education requirements. This agreement would put UWS back on a competitive basis with other schools which already allow such a transfer. attachment
    • Sustainable Management: UAAC approved the request for authorization at its March 24 meeting. attachment attachment attachment attachment attachment attachment attachment
  3. Informational Item
    • First Nations Studies: FNS has recently had to curtail its offerings to reflect lower levels of staffing. On March 3, after approving these expedient changes as a temporary measure, UAAC approved a resolution to "recommend to administration that it establish as a high priority the restoration of the FNS program to its previous level of staffing."
