Why can’t I open a file (Word document, PDF, QuickLink, etc) that my instructor has in the Content area? Nothing happens when I click on the file name.

There are a couple reasons why this could be happening. If you are using a pop-up blocker, it might be restricting the webpage or document from opening in a new window. You will want to put Learn@UWSuperior on your trusted sites list and allow pop-ups for this site, as well.

It could be a browser issue, the browser itself may not allow you to open the file. For example, if you are using Internet Explorer, you might see a security warning message saying that Internet Explorer has blocked this site from downloading files to your computer. Click on "Open or Save" option to get the file to download.

If you receive an error message saying the page couldn't be found, you will need to talk with your instructor. He or she will need to add the file, other tool (quicklink), or link to an outside resource before you will be able to see it.
